Advisory Councils
Boards of Directors govern the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Oak Brook Partnership. These directors value the information and recommendations provided by several advisory councils. The councils are comprised of experts and practitioners in the areas of public policy, commercial real estate, hospitality and retail, and workforce development. The following advisory councils help guide the work of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Oak Brook Partnership.

Public Policy Council
The Public Policy Council is made up of Chamber members who represent corporations and small, medium and large businesses based in Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace and surrounding communities; municipal leaders; state legislators and congressional representatives. The Council presents legislative meetings and events to keep Chamber members informed about state and federal legislation of interest to businesses. The Council also makes recommendations regarding state and federal legislative priorities for the Chamber.

Greater Oak Brook Partnership Council
The Greater Oak Brook Partnership Council is comprised of large employers in Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace, and the elected officials and staff from the Village of Oak Brook and the City of Oakbrook Terrace. The Council guides the Partnership’s efforts to ensure that innovative and effective strategies are used to attract new businesses to Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace and to retain existing businesses. Commercial Development Council
The Commercial Development Council is comprised of Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace commercial real estate representatives and municipal representatives. The purpose of the Council is to guide the Greater Oak Brook Partnership in creating proposals for needed commercial development, including retail, office and mixed-use development, in Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace.

Hospitality & Retail Council
The Hospitality & Retail Council is comprised of Chamber members who are the owners, managers and sales directors of restaurants, hotels and retail stores in Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace and just east and west of these communities along the East-West corridor in Lombard, Downers Grove and Westchester. The purpose of the Hospitality & Retail Council is to 1) provide a forum for restaurants, hotels and retail stores to raise and address issues affecting them and 2) to develop and support innovative programs to increase business at Greater Oak Brook restaurants, hotels and retail stores. The Council's general and senior managers meet quarterly and subcommittees meet as needed.

Workforce Development Council
The Chamber's Workforce Development Advisory Council is made up of Greater Oak Brook employers and educational partners. The purpose of the Council is to: 1) help Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace employers improve the quality of their labor pool, improve their recruitment strategies and reduce turnover; 2) to help workers understand their career options and educational requirements, match their skills and interests, and make informed job choices; and 3) to help area education and training providers develop training that is relevant to employers and that supports diverse career and educational pathways for individuals.
